We are at Middleton Beach most weekends during summer, club activities are on Sunday Mornings commencing with Juniors at 9:00 am followed by the Seniors at 10.30 am. We actively encourage all parents to be involved in club activities through the  morning.

Uniform Requirements

It is compulsory that all Junior members wear both their relevant age group colour cap (purple, yellow, red or blue) and a HIGH VISIBILITY YELLOW which are available for purchase from the Club.  Other Club merchandise including bathers, thermal shorts, rashies, hoodies (all non-compulsory)  are also available for purchase. Previously purchased PINK vests may be worn on club days. Yellow vests must be worn at state sanctioned events. The Uniform shop is open till 10.30 on Club mornings only.

Age Groups and Entitlements

The minimum age to be actively involved in the Club’s activities is 5 years old as at 30 September.  This date is also used to determine which age group you are in.  For example, a child that is 8 years old by 30 September will be placed into the U9 group whilst an 11 year old will be placed in the U12 group.

It is an expectation that all members compete in their appropriate age groups as skills and abilities are supported throughout the program.

All Active and Financial members have access to the Club’s facilities.  Social Members are able to join in social activities including Friday night club evenings, this membership excludes any other club access and use of club gear. KEYS will only be issued on approval to ACTIVE senior patrolling or contributing members.

Age Group Entitlements and notes
U6 and U7 Purple Caps Use of Junior soft boards and foamies. Parents must be present on the beach during their participation in all Club activities.
U8 and U9 Yellow Caps Use of Junior soft boards. Parents must be present on the beach during their participation in all Club activities.
U10 and U11 Red Caps Use of Junior soft boards and mini-mals (based on experience). Able to attend mid-week junior training sessions.U10 are now able to compete in SLSWA sanctioned events. Please see your AGM for advice before entering these events.
U12 & U13 Blue Caps U13’s Required to gain Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Surf Rescue Certificate for which the Club manages the training courses.  Use of mini-mals (U13’s).
U14 – 18 years  Cadets – Club Cap U14 use senior mals. SRC & Bronze medallion qualifications. Encouraged to attend mid-week training and represent Club at inter club competitions.Rostered for patrols and encouraged to gain further certificates, qualifications (official, coach, trainer, area captain, age group manager, etc for 16+) and to represent the Club at inter club competitions.  Can use senior boards and equipment (16+ for skis)
Patrolling Senior Member(19+ Years) Required to obtain SLSA Bronze Medallion and be rostered for patrols.  Encouraged to participate in Club and inter club competitions and become a committee member, trainer, assessor, volunteer, water safety etc.  Use of club facilities and equipment, has voting rights and eligible for application for issue of keys to the Clubhouse (annual application of $20/year and requires approval of the Committee).
 Active Senior Member May be granted by the Club to persons who may or may not hold a SLSA award. This member is actively contributing within the club . (approved by commitee only)
Family Membership Each family member must select a membership category .  Minimum of 1 parent/cadet to be rostered for patrols/contributing club member/Age Group Manager/ Water Safety.
Social (18+ years) Social Members are able to join in social activities including Friday night club evenings, this membership excludes any other club access or voting rights. Must use own gear.

How to Register & Fees 2017 2018

Membership fees contribute to approximately 15% of the Club’s annual running costs.The remainder of the clubs annual cost are secured through sponsorship agreements, grants, fundraising activities and donations. For insurance purposes, membership fees must be paid in full by the start of the season (1 November) otherwise unpaid members will not be able to join in the Club’s activities. Nipper enrolments close on the 30th November each year.
