Surf Patrol

Albany Surf Life Saving Club’s (ASLSC) patrol area extends from Middleton Beach through to Surfers Beach.

The patrolling season traditionally starts at the beginning of December and runs through to the end of March. The beach is patrolled on weekends and Public Holidays.

With popular swimming and beach areas at Middleton Beach & Surfers Beach, ASLSC dedicates a patrol team and flagged area at Middleton beach. Roving (by foot), vehicle and sea patrols run simultaneously across the entire coastline to Emu Point providing the public with first class life saving.

2024 Albany Surf Craft Challenge

On behalf of the team at Albany Surf Lifesaving Club, a huge thankyou to the sponsors of this year’s event: Bennett Paddles — Woodlands Distillery — Marshall Family Law — Great Southern Specialist Centre — Big 4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park — Three Anchors — Dolphin Lodge — and John Banks. We couldn’t do it without you guys! A generous prize pool this year will include some exciting new additions to the cabinet of perpetual trophies – take note ski paddlers!

The club would also like to acknowledge event partners Albany Sea Rescue — DC Design — and Albany Advertiser for helping to make this year happen again.

Early Bird registrations close on Sunday 19/5/2024 at midnight. Registration cost is $45 per head.

Standard registrations close on Friday 31/5/2024 at 4pm. Registration cost is $55 per head.

Late registration is available during pre-race drinks & event briefing at Three Anchors on Saturday 1/6/2024 from 4pm until 7pm. Late registration cost is $65 per head.

Team Registrations (surf boats and double skis) – To register your team, team captains will need to enter and pay for the team. They then share their team link with team members who need to register and join that team (free).

Please Note:

All Surf Ski competitors must supply and wear a Personal Floatation Device. Leg leashes, PLB’s, flares and high vis hats are recommended but not compulsory since the ocean leg of the course remains within 400m of land.
Minimum age for this event is 15 years. Exemptions will be considered – please contact the organiser for further information.
Mixed boat crews will compete as Men’s crews.
Boat Divisions are provisional on the final number of entries, and subject to change.
Insurance – Surf Lifesaving Australia members may be covered by your Club’s own personal accident insurance policy – please contact your Club to confirm. All event participants are required to sign the event Waiver.

4:00 – 7:00pm	Registration, nibbles & pre-race drinks at Three Anchors Middleton Beach.
5:00pm	Race Briefing

Timetable Sunday 2/06/2024:

6:30 – 7:15am	Race Check-in at Town Marina Boatshed (Boats) and Peace Park (Skis)
7:30am	Mandatory Briefing at Town Marina Boatshed (Boats) and Peace Park (Skis)
	All starts from the fishing platform on the Western side of the Marina. Wave start times subject to change based on final entries
8:00am	Race start – Surf Skis (all categories)
8:10am	Start 160+ Women Surf Boats
8:15am	Start 160+ Men Surf Boats
8:20am	Start Open + u23 Women Surf Boats
8:25am	Start Open + u23 Men Surf Boats
10:10am	Cut Off for all categories to finish course
10:30am	2km Beach Run: Middleton Beach
11:15am	Presentations at Middleton Beach
4:00pm	Food, music and bar at Three Anchors Middleton Beach
6:30pm	Last dinner orders at Three Anchors
9:00pm	Event Closed
